Roger Ebert doesn't blog, he is keeping a public journal online. And his most recent entry really validates the quote from Rachel Naomi Remen that, "the view from the edge of life is so much clearer." I feel like I need to read it a hundred times to begin to grasp the depth and importance of his perspective, wishing for just a quick glimpse of his spectacular view.

Yeah, Ebert's writing on his blog, or journal, or whatever it is, has been a treat. I see he's focused on one of my favorite Whitman passages and the one I'd like friends to remember whenever it is I exit.
"Failing to fetch me at first, keep encouraged.
Missing me one place, search another.
I stop somewhere, waiting for you."
Of course, I hope there's a lot of barbaric yawping for all of us between now and then.
