Lady Bird

I swear it's true - I had just called the Johnson Library and Museum two days before Lady Bird died. No connection there, but odd. This photo is from a book called Dog Days at the White House by Traphes Bryant. The caption that accompanies this photo says, "LBJ and Lady Bird were the closest presidential couple during my years at the White House."

Tribute to FDR

The Museum of Broadcast Communication celebrated the 75th anniversary of FDR's first Democratic Convention acceptance speech this week by inducting him into their Hall of Fame. The Auditorium Theater was dolled up as a convention hall (the real event took place at an earlier version of the Stadium, but Teddy Roosevelt did accept at the Auditorium. It also was the first place in Chicago to publically feature electricity.)

It was a great event. Robert Vaughn delivered the speech Roosevelt gave that night.
